Football

Football, known as soccer in some countries, is a team sport played between two teams of eleven players each. The objective of the game is to score goals by getting a spherical ball into the opposing team’s net, predominantly using feet, but players can also use their heads or any part of the body except for their arms and hands (goalkeepers are allowed to use their hands within their penalty area).

The sport is governed by a set of rules called the Laws of the Game, which outline the gameplay, fouls, and other regulations. Matches are typically played on a rectangular field with a goal at each end. The game is divided into two halves, usually lasting 45 minutes each, with a halftime interval.

Football is one of the world’s most popular sports, both in terms of participation and spectators. It is governed internationally by the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), which organizes major international competitions such as the World Cup. The sport encompasses various formats, including association football (the most widely played version), American football, and Canadian football, each with differing rules and gameplay styles.
